Dear Sephora,
What have we ever done to you? I'm fully aware that things in Canada cost more then they do in the states, due to the cost of shipping and etc. Also for the most part our dollar isn't taken into account much. At Sephora regardless if Canada's dollar is higher or lower the US dollar the all the prices on your website stay the same. Fine. There's nothing I can do about that.
But whats the deal with this recient Friends & Family (F&F) Sale? Okay, so its online, I'm not an online Sephora shopper, because theres one 10 mins from my house, so why should I pay the $9.95 for standard shipping or the $15.95 for express shipping. That is unless I spend over $120 to qualify for free shipping.
That isn't the issue though, this is (its a bunch of jibber jabber so I bolded the part that irritates me):

Why? Why couldn't this be avliable to Canadians? Even though I don't shop online, I think I would have indulged in this one.
I love Sephora. Because I have to. I have no other real option as a Canadian. Sure Mac is here but, its not like I can get a wide array brands there. There is the department store option, but its not like they carry brands like Urban Decay, Too Faced or Tarte.
I'm really glad that Shoppers Drugmart is starting to carry a wider array of higher end brands. Plus I prefer thier rewards system over Sephora's. I think if Ulta opened some stores in Canada, they'd make a killing.
Bottom line. This sucks - All I can do is haul my ass off whenever I go to the US. Which, I always plan on doing when in America. Haha. If any other Canadian girls (or guys) hate this then feel free to air your Sephora Canada grievances in the comments!
Hey, thx for the comment on my page! Greatly appreciate it :) Always like meeting new people and I'm pretty new as a blogger but I have done reporting and interviewing and writing. On MUT I started by offering to write articles and I've only done a few so far but I asked them if they would like me to do the coverage on IMATS and they were happy to let me. On MUT its all volunteer as it is on many sites so I am just getting some exposure and I will be interviewing and filming and photographing and meeting as many people in the industry that I can lol! I will also do any reviews on any samples or products that I get at the show, again volunteer but its an amazing opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about Sephora, I've only just started to use these high end brands, I didn't even know they existed before! I have always loved makeup and style and I love to be different but never really explored too deeply. I only have a few higher end products now but I want to try more and learn more and learn new techniques.
I also have a music blog that you can check out and my username is Slinkycats on MUT. Feel free to chat anytime! Oh also just so you know I am actually from Toronto but I live in London :P
I actually walked into a Shoppers yesterday that had a Smashbox section. IN A SHOPPERS. Maybe that isn't news to you, but it is to me!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the Beauty Roulette thing on Sephora works for Canadians, either. I was a little disappointed about that.
I have complaints about SO many things as a Canadian who loves online shopping... shipping prices.. not shipping to Canada.. I'm sure you know the feeling.
@Sarabel - I just bought a few things from Smashbox from Shoppers Drugmart, They've been carrying them for awhile, I'm really glad that they're carrying more and more high end things, I read on beautycrazed.ca that a Shoppers Drugmart in Whitby has started carrying Urban Decay, so hopefully that will become a regular line in all the stores. I too feel your pain as an avid online shopper. I hate paying shipping, its such a pain.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that the Beauty Roulette thing is American only =( ..So unfair lol
