Rock & Republic Saturate Eye Colour Swatches

Ok the packaging on these babies is ridiculous.. In a good way though lol. Recently HauteLook had a sale on Rock & Republic stuff. Both the clothes/accessories (I'm not a fan of their women's jeans - I have two pairs & I hate them) as well as the make up. So I made sure I was on HauteLook as soon as the sale started and I grabbed three shadows (Ambition, Scorch and Corrosive) I contemplated buying a brush or two, but I just don't need them. I was really hoping that some of their blushes would be up for sale, but unfortunately, they weren't. These shadows retail for $28.00 USD on Rock & Republic's Website. I purchased these shadows from HauteLook for $7.00 a piece. You get 0.11oz or 3g of product.
Ambition, Scorch, Corrosive

Ambition, Scorch, Corrosive
Swatched on bare skin without a primer.

As far as my first impressions are concerned...

I think that the packaging is amazing, I love it.. Its so sleek and pretty (not to mention way extra). The only thing that I don't like about the packaging is that the shadow containers don't snap shut when you close them. So if throw these in a make up bag you'd need to make sure these are in a secure area that will ensure they stay closed so nothing gouges the product in the pan. The shadows are really velvety and smooth and not at all powdery.. Just plain amazing lol

The colors are quite pigmented in a weird way. You can apply them quite sheer if you want or you can really amp them up. Just based on this I wish I'd gotten more colors - In reality more shadows is the last thing I need lol. In general I'm really happy with the colors I bought. I can't wait to give them a whirl!

PS:

After this purchase, I'm super in love with HauteLook and will continue to shop off their website! They have such amazing deals! And the shipping is super reasonable. The only thing I dislike about them is they take about a month to ship. Aside from that they are awesome!

My First Franken.... Success?

Ok I've read one tutorial on how to do a Franken. It was at from Dr. Frankenpolish's blog. (What a bad ass name, seriously)

Anyways, I didn't so much as read it as I looked at the pictures to get the gist of it..

So let's see how this little baby goes.

I'm using:

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On, NYX Pearl Mania Yellow Gold Pearl, and Nicole by OPI Make Mine Lime and a random Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Shadow.

I used the whole pan of shadow in the Make Mine Lime polish. I then added about 30 drops of  Sally Hansen White On. To add everything I made a funnel out of a piece of paper. After everything was in I shook up the bottle. After I used the white polish I needed to lighten up the green polish I added the whole bottle of the pearl mania pigment into the polish bottle. Then you gotta shake 'em up REALLY well.

This is what I ended up with:

I'm really really happy with how the green polish came out. The problem with it before is that it was so sheer so I'd have to do a coat of white polish and then two coats of green. By adding the white directing into the polish I can now just skip the whole thing and do two coats and I'm rockin. As for me adding the eye shadow I just thought it would be fun lol.

The Sally Hansen nail polish didn't turn out as well as I expected. Since I added so much pigment it really dried out the polish. To fix this I may add in some more white polish I have from another bottle. I'm really happy how the color came out though.

Two quick coats of my Green Franken

All in all I had a lot of fun with this and will be doing it again!

Inglot Haul + Swatches! PLUS A Confession =) Some Louis Vuitton Too!

Hello everyone!

As some of you may know my boyfriend and I went to Montreal for a KISS show a  couple weekends ago. On this trip we did some much needed relaxing, shopping and we obviously saw the concert. At this particular concert we weren't up front lol. It was PACKED. We actually sat in the VIP area in the back right corner. I'm glad we weren't in the massive crowd. We would have gotten stomped lol.

(This image is from KISSONLINE)

In addition to going to the concert we also went to a local mall. In this mall there just so happened to be an Inglot! Who could have guessed that lol. We didn't go to Inglot once, but TWICE! That's right, I tried to be good but I didn't succeed. This is the stuff from the first trip: Inglot's eye make up base #01 and AMC Shine #29 eyeshadow (which is an iridescent pink color). I tried and tried to get a good true to life swatch of this shadow, but my camera sucks, these photos are very true to life though.

This is from the next trip: DS #474 eyeshadow (which is yellow with silver shimmer) AMC #52 eyeshadow (which is a chocolate brown with gold sparkles) and AMC #51 eyeshadow (which is a bright pumpkin orange with silver shimmer)

I also got a 4 pan freedom system palette.

When I was in Inglot I obviously asked about the rainbow shadows, the girl told me they don't have them yet. While I was talking to her I mentioned that I was planning on making an online order - She told me Inglot doesn't ship inside Canada, I've yet to go find out if that's actually the case. She gave me the her Regional Managers card and told me that if I call this lady rather then trying to get something online I'd save a ton of money in shipping. So keep that in mind Canadian ladies! PS: Sorry the swatches aren't better I swatched these in the car right after we bought them lol

I know I was planning on hauling some More stuff because of my recent make up drawer clean up (which I've kept clean so far woohoo! lol) So rather then going gang busters at Inglot I only got a couple things so I can use up the rest of the stuff that I already have.

Confession Time

That's why I don't feel *AS* bad for buying two purses over the last week lol. I bought a purse from Browns. I had to buy it I just had to! It was regularly $98, and I got it for *drum roll please* $38! Plus it came with a wristlet!

On top of all this jazz I also got a Louis Vuitton 25 Speedy off eBay. I decided that my first LV should be a used one, because I'm not super graceful and I'm worried about ruining it. This purse is 100% real (I'm psycho and made my lovely boyfriend got to Holt Renfrew to the LV counter to get it all checked out)

So pretty much, make up and purse wise I'm rockin'. No more shopping.. Except clothes lol =) ..For awhile anyways haha

I Gotta Clean Up My Act... And My Make Up Drawer

Ok, when I was younger I was the messiest little piglet, even when I was in high school my locker was a disaster zone. That, luckily, is all in the past and I'm doing better in terms of keeping a tidy room and work area.

My nail polishes are wonderfully organized in a train case I stole borrowed from my Momma. But my make up. Ahh my coveted, loved make up is somewhat going unused =( its sad I know. Which is why I'm going to do a total overhaul of my make up drawer. I know, its only a lowly drawer but I suppose that's what I get for living at home. I really wish that I could store and use my make up in my room but I just don't have enough light in there.

So to ensure that I get the best use out of my ever growing collection of make up. I'm going to organize! I'm going to organize my make up loving ass off.

This is what I've got going on now. Its a nightmare. Please don't judge me.

I'm well aware that this is a hideous mess, but, but, but... Ok theres no excuse.

This is the new game plan. I hit up my local Dollar Store and I got a whole bunch of baskets, I think I got like 8 various size baskets for $9.00 (the plan was for me to take pictures of the empty baskets before I filled them with my stuff, but I forgot. Because I was over excited lol.

I separated everything into its own little section. On the counter is just a bunch of stuff that was in this drawer before that I never used/looked for. So now lets go clock wise from the top left: In that basket are my blushes and bronzers below this basket is my Beauties Factory 120 palette. Next to that is my eyeshadow primers, bases, eye shadows,  Duo Glue, eyelash glue remover and my lash curler. Next to that in the top right corner is my Tarte jewelry box. Below that I have my brushes that are too short to go into my brush storage. Below that in the bottom right corner I have my foundations, BB cream, Eyeko bronzer and higlighter creams, my GOSH primer and my Mac set powder. To the left I have my Mascaras, concealers and some colored pencil eyeliners. To the left again, is all my lip stuff: Lipstick, lip liners, lip balms, glosses. Finally the bottom left corner I have the rest of my eyeliners: Liquid, gel, pencil, kajal and a few eyebrow powders.

Here's a close up:

And also just to throw it out there I thought I'd show you where I keep my most used brushes and my skincare stuff.

I keep the brushes I use regularly in a mason jar. I keep my face stuff on a basket on the counter my mom and I share this real estate lol all my stuff is on the left side of the basket (In there I have my Body Shop 3 step Vitamin E system. Clinique SPF 50 face sunscreen. A sample of some Clinique SPF 15 anti-aging moisturizer and The Body Shop Honey and Oatmeal face mask).  To the right of all this is where I keep cotton pads.

Welcome To The Wonderful World of Waxing! Suddenly Smooth Products First Thoughts

A product thumbnail of Jilbere Professional Wax Warmer   A product thumbnail of Suddenly Smooth Deluxe Cream Wax

I'm a noob to the world of waxing. The only thing I've tried are those Veet strips, the ones that you peel apart and stuck on and pull off. Those are great but they can get a tad expensive and I just wanted something more precise.

I bought both The Suddenly Smooth Deluxe Cream Wax which is 14 oz for $23.99 CAD regular price and the Suddenly Smooth Professional Wax Warmer which is about $45.00 CAD regular (the one pictured above is EXACTLY the same as the Suddenly Smooth one I bought except the name - even when you type Suddenly Smooth in on Sally's search bar the Jilbere one comes up).

I just happened to go into Sally's when they were having a sale on Suddenly Smooth products (yay!) So I got the warmer for $39.99 CAD and the wax free because I bought the warmer! Super score eh?

A product thumbnail of GiGi Natural Epilating Strips & Applicators

In addition to these two items I also bought a package of GiGi Natural Epilating Strips & Applicators (which was $5.99 CAD) it contains 20 strips and 10 applicators. I kind of regret buying these but I needed muslin strips and applicators. The reason why I regret buying them is because I could've just bought Popsicle sticks from the dollar store and took new rags from my Dad's shop (You can buy the rags from, like, tool stores - The one we go to for work is called Bolts Plus and the rags are CLEANLY WASHED cut up T-shirts and you can get like 15 pounds of shirts for like $15.00!)

Anyways since I'm new to waxing. I don't think I'm acquaint well enough with the wax warmer or the wax itself so expect a full review after I get some more uses with these babies under my belt.

Here are my initial thoughts:

The warmer heats the wax up quickly and it doesn't get so hot that you'll burn yourself. As per the instructions I cranked mine to 10 let it melt the way and turned it down to 3 (which didn't keep it a good consistency so I put it back up to 10 and when it was fully melted I left it on 6)

As for the wax. I don't think I'm a fan. Now, like I said I'm new to waxing. But I didn't expect it to be so gloppy even after its heated. It applies fairly well and it pulled the hairs out well. I really like the color of it though! Its hot Pink! lol

Stay tuned for a full review!

A Make Up Lovers Madness Part II... Inglot Final List

So I've been doing my research.. Big time! My boyfriend saw all the little lists I'm keeping and the notes I've been taking (which are hideous little scribbles that are 100% non legible to anyone other then myself. See below lol) I know to anyone who doesn't "get" make up this looks like pure OCD activity. But its necessary.

So this is the scoop I've come up with after hours of looking at various swatches.. I am really REALLY doubting I'll pick up any of the Shine Shadows, they look like they're poorly pigmented, they look great in the pan but (in photos mind you) they really fail to wow me. I suppose they could make good hi-lighters, but that's not what I'm in the market for.

I really like the looks of the AMC DS Shadows, and the Pearl ones also. The matte ones look nice too but, I just don't NEED any mattes at this point. Honestly after hours of scouring the Internet for swatches, looks and all that kinda good stuff - I'm somehow more lost now then when I was when I started. Like.. Inglots collection is huge HUGE, its too much to take in on the Internet. I think that the only way I'm going to walk into that store without looking like a total foaming at the mouth psycho freak is if I walk in with a clean mental slate.

Overall I don't think I'm going to go too crazy in there. I don't NEED anything so I'm just going to get the stuff that really wows me.I'm planning on checking out their gel liners really well. I have the feeling that I'm going to walk out of there with a yellow one for some reason lol and probably a teal one. One thing I know I'm going to get is an eye shadow base for suuuure. I'm going to go into the store give everything in there a good once over.. Take note of anything I like swatch it and see if its a keeper or a.. tosser? haha.

For the record I am going to be making up a list and putting it into my phone so I can check out somethings that did appeal to me online. This isn't necessarily the list of stuff I'm going to buy - just some of the stuff that MAY be coming home with me lol.

AMC Eyeliner Gel: #84 & #87
Eyeshadows: AMC #60, AMC #52, #457 DS, #402 Pearl, AMC# 50, #382 DS, #473 DS, #364 Matte, #474 DS, #370 Matte,, #477 AMC, #426 Pearl,, 3358 Matte, #545 Pearl
AMC Face Blush: All of them lol
AMC Face & Body Illuminator: either 61,62 or 63

Hopefully I can narrow it down to 5 (or 10) shadows so I can either buy a palette for the shadows! =)

ALSO - On Inglots US website they are saying that the rainbow shadows will be available for sale on Friday July 15 2011. So I'm not sure if they'll be for sale in Montreal next weekend when I'm there but if they are - I may end up buying those. Haha.

I thought since I put so much effort into finding good Inglot swatches I'd post a few sources I found helpful. BTW finding a specific Inglot swatch online is like finding a needle in a hay stack - so be prepared to search your little asses off lol =)

Also, I'm subscribed to a Guru on Youtube, LittleKiva and I believe she works for Inglot. She does some really cool looks and is super talented. She uses a ton of different Inglot products and is actually the person who got me excited about going to Inglot when my boyfriend and I go to Montreal.

The Body Shop: Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil in Honey Kissed 01 & Lip Nectar in 02 Honey Biege

This is what TBS says about this product: "Best if you want to: Give you skin an even bronzed look with a hint of shimmer with a lightweight body oil."

The Body Shop: Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil in Honey Kissed 01 isn't the product I expected it to be. I thought it would be more of a temporary bronzer then a body shimmer. This product is good as far as consistency is concerned - its a very light oil that requires a good shake between uses. I doubt I will buy it again or anything else like it for that matter. I'm not fond of the smell either, I can't really pin point what it is but I don't like it.. It smells too older ladyish for me. This retails for $14.00 CAD. You get 100ml or 3.3 fl oz of product. This is available in one shade.

I think this product would be good for you if you enjoy other dry oils/body oils. If not then skip this one.

This is what TBS says about this product: "Best if you want to: Give your lips a sheer tint and a sparkling shine with a honey-enriched gloss."

I really don't have much to say about this gloss. Its just your typical lip gloss, it isn't sticky and is very smooth feeling. It has a fine shimmer to it. I really like the shade I bought this in its a nice neutral natural looking gloss. It is unscented. This item retails for $13.00 CAD. This product contains 14 ml or 0.47 fl oz. This product comes in 2 shades: 01 Honey Bunch (which is more pink toned) and 02 Honey Biege (see swatch above)

**Please note: This post has been getting a ton of views (thanks!) haha I'm just letting those of you know who are interested in the Dry Oil. This item WILL be included in my 50 person giveaway. I only used it once for the purpose of this blog to swatch it (see above photo)

So stay tuned if your interested!

Cherry Culture Haul! Massive Swatch Post! =)

Cherry Culture Haul:

All the stuff above was ON SALE woooo! haha, but serious, All the liners you see were $1.75 (except the Jumbo eye pencil which was $2.99 as well as the Jumbo lip pencil) The lipsticks were all $2.99. All of the pencils are really creamy and pigmented. I'm really REALLY impressed with the jumbo lip pencil its SUUUUPER creamy. Obviously the Jumbo eye pencil is fantastic lol. The eyebrow cake powder is also really smooth and pigmented, although its darker then I thought it would be. The Bronzer stick is good, but I personally prefer working with bronzing powders. Another thing I'm super impressed with it the Malani eye tech liquid liner its super easy to apply and is very pigmented.

Tattoo Adventure The [Almost] Final Product & A Small Update

Sooo, I know its late, but I figure better late then never. The Artist that did my redo was really cool, I think her name is Amanda, I went to this shop on Bloor West in Toronto called Tat-A-Rama. In total the whole thing probably took 45 mins or so and costed $140.00 CAD. Honestly aside from getting these touched up (which I was told will have to be done because of their location) I doubt I'll be getting any tattoos any time in the near future. It hurts like a bitch, serious. The whole time I was getting tattooed my legs were uncontrollably twitching lol.

Right now I'm still in the scabbing process, when everything is fully healed (before my first touch up) I'll take a photo and I'll be sure to keep you all posted. Overall I'm quite happy with what I've got so far. I really prefer these over the diamonds I previously had. At first I wanted the tattoos to be all purple, but I was told by the artist that it just wouldn't look right because you'd still be able to see the diamond underneath the purple, which is why we opted for black in the center fading out to purple.

Now, for the update. Look, I'm sorry I was gone for that little while. I know it wasn't long but still. I feel bad. The thing is, I'm swamped, between going to concerts and being on a massive job hunt I've got no time and the time I do have is mostly spent sleeping lol. Right now I'm hoping and praying that I get a call back from LUSH. Not only for the discount (which is like 50% off!) but because I think it would be a rad place to work. Also I've been bogged down because of this damn Canadian postal strike (which is now over THANK GOD!) I'm expecting a few more packages to come in so you can expect a ton of swatches reviews and etc.

Thanks Guys! You're the best

My Dadge & His Flaky, Red Scalp..

Hey people, I just thought I'd share this with those of you who suffer from itchy, flaky red, irritated scalps!

My Dadge (a.k.a. My Dad lol and by the way its pronounced like the word "Badge") suffers from this. Early last week he was telling me how his hair dresser said he needs to get a shampoo like Head & Shoulders or something to get rid of the issues hes got going on scalp wise. I thought to myself "Maybe this would be a good time to attempt to get my dad(ge) to try something new!" I proceeded to tell him about how the LUSH bar shampoos that I've been using is helping me combat my extremely oily hair. He was kind of curious about how a bar shampoo works so I told him: "All I do is grab the shampoo bar in the shower, rub it in my hands really good to get some good suds goin' and go to town on lathering up your hair". After work he said he wanted to go to the mall to pick up a phone charger and said we should go to LUSH at the same time.

After work we were mall-ward bound! We head to LUSH and I started talking to the sales guy about what he'd suggest for a dry, red, flaky irritated scalp and he immediately said "Soak & Float" he also told me that it would probably take about a week or two to see some results and the smell of the shampoo itself is a little off putting but its worth it (apparently he had suffered some scalp issues also) He said that its the only thing that's worked for him and he had tried everything out there.

So my lovely Dadge bought two bar shampoos his, Soak & Float and one for me =) Squeaky Green! Which is supposed to be good for those of us with oily hair, since he got two shampoos he also got a free soap tin! Yay! lol

We were in LUSH on Wednesday night last week and its now Monday of the following week. I was talking to my Dadge today and I checked out his scalp and there's no more flake's! all the redness is totally gone - well its still a tad pinkish but its almost 100% back to normal. Hes on the road to... Scalp recovery! So good on you LUSH for helping my Poppas scalp issues clear up! wo0t!

So, Soak & Float you get 5 GlitterBombs out of 5!

This is what LUSH says about the Soak & Float bar shampoo: "Cade oil: We use it in our Soak and Float solid shampoo bar for its antimicrobial effect. Soak and Float can help alleviate the symptoms associated with dry scalps. The scent of freshly made tar. Effective anti-dandruff shampoo bar that smells like rich tar. Cade oil gives Soak and Float its distinctive smell and works against the microbes which cause dandruff and it works to alleviate bothered scalps that are dry and itchy. Lavender balances oil - and improves the scent! Lavender helps to condition poor, sensitive scalps and ever so slightly improves the smell!"

And just for good measure this is what LUSH says about the Squeaky Green bar shampoo: "Rosemary: We use rosemary to purify scalps in combination with nettle and tea tree. These herbs are incredibly effective when your hair is stressed out. Dandruff-busting rosemary. Beat flakiness and purify skin with rosemary, nettle and peppermint. Your hair is immediately transformed by the antibacterial tea tree. It really goes back to the basics of effective hair care. Everything in balance. This environmental wonder uses soothing rose, chamomile and vanilla to calm and balance out those powerful herbs."

I'll let you know how it goes with the Squeaky Green Shampoo. I haven't used it yet, I want to finish up my Karma Komba shampoo first! =)
